Stand Firm 1 Cor. 16:13

Paul speaks directly to the men of the Church of Corinth and tells them to act like Godly men.

Supplemental Scriptures

1 Cor 3:1-3   3 Brothers, I could not address you as spiritual but as worldly — mere infants in Christ. 2 I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it. Indeed, you are still not ready. 3 You are still worldly. For since there is jealousy and quarreling among you, are you not worldly? Are you not acting like mere men? NIV

1 Cor 14:20   20 Brothers, stop thinking like children. In regard to evil be infants, but in your thinking be adults. NIV

1 Cor 13:11   11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. NIV

1 Cor 2:12-13   12 We have not received the spirit of the world but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us. 13 This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words. NIV

2 Tim 3:16-17   16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. NIV

Gal 5:22-25   2 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. 25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. Supplemental Scriptures

2 Thess 2:15   15 So then, brothers, stand firm and hold to the teachings we passed on to you, whether by word of mouth or by letter. NIV

Jude 3    3 Dear friends, although I was very eager to write to you about the salvation we share, I felt I had to write and urge you to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to the saints. NIV

1 Cor 15:1   1 Now, brothers, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. NIV

Deut 32:3-4   3 I will proclaim the name of the Lord.Oh, praise the greatness of our God! 4 He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is He. NIV

Matt 7:24   24 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. NIV

1 Cor 3:18-19   18 Do not deceive yourselves. If any one of you thinks he is wise by the standards of this age, he should become a “fool” so that he may become wise. 19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God’s sight. As it is written: “He catches the wise in their craftiness”; NIV

2 Peter 1:21-2:1   21 For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit. 2 But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them — bringing swift destruction on themselves. NIV

Supplemental Scriptures

2 Cor 1:15-16   15 Because I was confident of this, I planned to visit you first so that you might benefit twice. 16 I planned to visit you on my way to Macedonia and to come back to you from Macedonia, and then to have you send me on my way to Judea. NIV

James 4:13-15   13 Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.” 14 Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. 15 Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.” NIV

His face was like the sun shining in all its brilliance. NIV
