Infants and Adults  1 Cor. 14:19-22

Paul admonishes the Corinthians that they are thinking like children (because they have fallen back into worldly thinking) instead of like adults (those who have the Holy Spirit and can understand God’s Absolute truth.

Supplemental Scriptures

Eph 4:14      14 Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming. NIV

Isa 28:11-13    11 Very well then, with foreign lips and strange tongues God will speak to this people, 12 to whom he said,”This is the resting place, let the weary rest”;and, “This is the place of repose” — but they would not listen. 13 So then, the word of the Lord to them will become:Do and do, do and do,rule on rule, rule on rule;a little here, a little there — so that they will go and fall backward,be injured and snared and captured. NIV

1 Cor 2:15-16   15 The spiritual man makes judgments about all things, but he himself is not subject to any man’s judgment: 16 “For who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ. NIV

Eph 4:11-13     11 It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, 12 to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up 13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. What Exactly Happened at the Cross? Romans 8:3-4

Christ accomplished much more on the cross than we are generally taught.  We take a look at all that He did for us.

Supplemental Scriptures

1 John 3:4   4 Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness. NIV

Heb 9:25-28    25 Nor did he enter heaven to offer himself again and again, the way the high priest enters the Most Holy Place every year with blood that is not his own. 26 Then Christ would have had to suffer many times since the creation of the world. But now he has appeared once for all at the end of the ages to do away with sin by the sacrifice of himself. 27 Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment, 28 so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him. NIV

Matt 5:17    17 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. NIV

John 14:20    20 On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. NIV

Eph 1:13    13 And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, NIV

Eph 2:8-10     For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith — and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast. NIV
