Technical Problem with Sermon for 6/17/2018

I just sent out the sermon for 6/17 and unfortunately I did not listen all the way through.  At around 43 minutes we lose the audio so there is no sound.  Unfortunately we have varying technical issues from time to time and this is one of those times.

I am very sorry I did not check the audio all the way through before I published the blog.

Back to the Beginning 1 Cor. 15:1-5

In chapter 15 Paul teaches about the core of the Gospel: the resurrection of Christ.  In verse 3-5 he uses three forms of proof the Gospel is true: He received it from Christ, it was prophesied in the Old Testament and eyewitness accounts of the resurrection.

Supplemental Scriptures

Isaiah 53    1 Who has believed our message and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed? 2 He grew up before him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of dry ground. He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him. 3 He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering. Like one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not. 4 Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet we considered him stricken by God, smitten by him, and afflicted. 5 But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed. 6 We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all. 7 He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth. 8 By oppression and judgment he was taken away. And who can speak of his descendants? For he was cut off from the land of the living; for the transgression of my people he was stricken. 9 He was assigned a grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death, though he had done no violence, nor was any deceit in his mouth. 10 Yet it was the Lord’s will to crush him and cause him to suffer, and though the Lord makes his life a guilt offering, he will see his offspring and prolong his days, and the will of the Lord will prosper in his hand. 11 After the suffering of his soul, he will see the light [of life] and be satisfied; by his knowledge my righteous servant will justify many, and he will bear their iniquities. 12 Therefore I will give him a portion among the great, and he will divide the spoils with the strong, because he poured out his life unto death, and was numbered with the transgressors. For he bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors. NIV
John 20:19   19 On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” NIV
Hebrews 12:2-3   2 Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. John 14:23-24   23 Jesus replied, “If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. 24 He who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me. NIV

1 John 5:3-4    3 This is love for God: to obey his commands. And his commands are not burdensome, 4 for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. NIV

That is why I said the Spirit will take from what is mine and make it known to you. NIV

Rev 22:18-19   18 I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book. 19 And if anyone takes words away from this book of prophecy, God will take away from him his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book. NIV

Luke 10:27   27 He answered: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.'” NIV

Infants and Adults  1 Cor. 14:19-22

Supplemental Scriptures

Isa 28:11-13    11 Very well then, with foreign lips and strange tongues God will speak to this people, 12 to whom he said,”This is the resting place, let the weary rest”;and, “This is the place of repose” — but they would not listen. 13 So then, the word of the Lord to them will become:Do and do, do and do,rule on rule, rule on rule;a little here, a little there — so that they will go and fall backward,be injured and snared and captured. NIV

1 Cor 2:15-16   15 The spiritual man makes judgments about all things, but he himself is not subject to any man’s judgment: 16 “For who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ. NIV
